In Remote Control is asked 4 friends who live in other cities to choreograph at
least 30 seconds of dance for me and then call me with directions to be given over the phone. They could exist in Seattle from their city vicariously through me. I wanted to give up the precise control I normally have over my videographic subjects and become at the mercy of someone else's choreographic will. To make it more interesting I made sure to pick people with no dance training. My own power of decision making will was humbled and quieted as the schedule of calls became very out of order and behind schedule. I waited a long time to hear from people...sometimes up to 20 mins.
